Oak Farm Tea Rooms

Oak Farm Tea Room logoA rural tea room serving a farm fresh menu
in Ditton Priors, South Shropshire

The Oak Farm Tea Rooms opened in September 2006 in the village of Ditton Priors.

The interior is bright and traditional, with a seasonal farm-fresh menu of light lunches, homemade cakes and drinks. Outside, there is a patio area where vistors can enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The gardens, which include a herb garden and small orchard, are maintained by Green Horizons staff and volunteers.

The building is situated next door to Oak Farm, a smallholding run by Shropshire County Council as a day service for adults with learning disabilities. The relationship between the tea rooms and Oak Farm is a synergistic one - a number of service users at the farm have taken the opportunity to undertake work-based catering training with Pathways-Shropshire at the tea rooms, and many of the ingredients for the tea rooms' seasonal menu come from the farm, including vegetables and eggs.

Oak Farm Shop

Oak Farm Tea Room logoThe new Oak Farm Shop opened in November 2008 to mark national Social Enterprise Day.  The shop building is on the same site as the tea rooms and was formerly an unused agricultural building.  In November 2007 we were lucky enough to secure one of the Big Lottery People’s Millions awards to pay for the conversion of the building.

The farm shop provides a perfect showcase for all the produce from the Oak Farm smallholding next door.  The small holding is run by Shropshire Council Community Services as a day service for adults with a learning disability, and many of the service users also work on voluntary placements at the tea rooms and shop.

The farm shop also stocks lots of local Shropshire/Herefordshire produce and the aim is to provide stock that is seasonal, local and affordable.  Current opening hours are from 10.00am to 4pm Wednesday to Saturday inclusive throughout the year.
